Soul’s Verity
Soul’s Verity
In a mortal frame, a soul’s confined,
Two adversaries, closely combined,
The interplay ‘twixt, a tangled skein,
A crux! Who’ll obey and who’ll reign.
Soul’s locked, confined to bony frame,
Manacled, fettered, silent but aflame,
For this parochial world, it didn’t vie!
A bird engaged, aspiring to skies high.
With a vain head, oft’ change of heart,
With treacherous eyes, to play its part,
Spells of magic, neither here nor there,
Neither inside nor outside, I’m nowhere.
Soul’s a light, and its shine may aptly play,
A wrangle ‘twixt virtue and vice, on display,
A heavenly blest soul, the insignia of piety,
Lucifer in ambuscade, enticing into gaiety!
Rap that door, the soul shall glitter the way,
Talk to soul in silent words, O Life’s just fray,
Wary of time wings, flame the heart to fire,
Seek the ecstasy within, the rest is vile mire.
