A Father to his Daughter

     A Father to his Daughter

Frolic her measures, and to and fro,

She frisked along mefast and slow,

To the corner yonder; in her leisure,

Radiating love, this loving treasure!

Her locks flowing; in wafting breeze,

Like wavy cascade; in soothing ease,

Whirling and dancing; O all the way,

Set my heart pounding, fancy astray!

The ordered hues, beamed her face,

Gold and rose! Enhancing her grace,

Nursing my passions; to fiery power,

Paint a beauty; ’neath golden shower.

Thru what taste, thru what fancy bless,

She’d light mine eyes, her divine dress,

Bless me, she charms my wanton eyes,

Filial traits, O she’s the God sent prize.

That meek daughter; of promised truth,

Her native charms; and admiring youth,

With the sweet aroma, her breaths flow

Sighing to rose, O she’ll reign thy glow.

And swathed in heavens, her chaste fame,

Her youthful grace, and inquisitive flame,

Yearnings of elders, her love-darting eye,

She will sparkle; beneath that loving sky!

Heaven’s fancy; had kindled such shower,

The flashing fount; ’neath inspiring bower,

Gems on glowing rose! If tears only a few,

Shamed if there were drops of morn’ dew.

Hanging pensive head, my muse unlocked!

I’ve rhymed this song, my passions rocked,

And curtained this scene, from other’s view,

’Cause I love, kiss away pearls albeit a few!

But whence near, I sat this ecstatic wonder,

My passions for her, tore my heart asunder,

When she vanished, veiled in swelling haze,

Soon she sank in my arms, my hectic chaise.

The divine gift, with the sublime fancy born.

Shine a sparkle, if there were a gloomy morn,

Those lost and done, to the upheavals of time,

A beacon of light she’s, nay a flowery rhyme!
